The Science Behind PRP
Human blood contains growth factors that work together to generate and heal tissue. Platelet-rich plasma, or PRP, contains approximately 5 to 7 times the amount of platelets, offering an impressive boost of growth factors.
PRP has been shown to have a great potential in skin rejuvenation, rapid healing, reduced infection, and a decreased chance of scarring. The PRP Hair Treatment Procedure
The entire PRP hair treatment procedure is fast, painless and non-invasive, taking approximately 45 minutes to an hour on average.
During a PRP hair treatment, we draw a small amount of the client’s own blood, and spin it in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the red blood cells and the plasma. Meanwhile the scalp is disinfected, a topical numbing cream is applied, and microneedling is performed using a 0.5mm – 0.75mm dermaroller.
The high concentration of platelets is then injected into the thinning areas of the scalp using a very small needle, promoting rejuvenation of existing hair follicles and reversal of hair miniaturization. As a result, the existing hair becomes thicker, stronger and healthier.
For optimal results, a second PRP hair treatment is scheduled 6 to 8 weeks after the initial session.
As PRP is naturally found in the blood, it’s very safe to use with no risk of rejection or downtime.
